About
The Department of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) at Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) offers two specialized four-year B.Sc. programs. Students can choose between two streams: Airframe & Power plant or Avionics. These programs are designed to provide both academic knowledge and hands-on training, equipping students with the skills they need to maintain, repair, and ensure the safety of modern aircraft.
To enroll in the AME programs, candidates must have higher secondary education with a background in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The AME curriculum covers essential subjects like mathematics, physics, aerodynamics, and safety regulations. Additionally, students gain practical training in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft components and systems, allowing them to gain firsthand experience in tasks they will perform in the field.
A key part of the program is the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering licensing course. After successfully completing the required licensing modules (if chosen to undertake by individual student), students can apply for an AME license from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). License category certifies a graduate’s capability to carry out maintenance and repair tasks specific to different types of aircraft, preparing them for roles as certified Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.
The AME department aims to prepare graduates for successful careers in both national and international aviation sectors. With a focus on current industry standards, the department continually updates its curriculum to ensure relevance and value for students, mentors, and instructors. Graduates from the program can expect a solid foundation in aviation maintenance, safety, and regulatory standards, giving them the opportunity to pursue meaningful careers in the aviation industry as skilled, licensed professionals.
