Why Space Communication and Navigation Technology at AAUB?

About

Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) is the first higher education institution on aviation and aerospace engineering. Through placing the only and first communication satellite, the BS-1 in the space orbit, the need for producing the human resource in the field of space and satellite technology. AAUB also needs engineers qualified in the field of space and aviation to be enrolled in its stream of faculties. Directives from the govt of Bangladesh authority (Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission-UGC) were also received for launching Masters programme of Space Systems Engineering and Satellite Communication Engineering at AAUB. Accordingly, the Department of Space Systems Engineering and the Department of Satellite Communication Engineering were opened with effect from July 2022. As aviation and space technology in Bangladesh evolves, the University will look forward to keep itself abreast of various academic and technical innovations and offer important value addition. At present students from two batches are undergoing the programme “M.Sc in Satellite Communication Engineering”.

Vision

To be a part of an internationally recognized center of excellence for providing quality education in the field of Space Communication and Navigation Technology and to conduct research to meet the national and global challenges.

Mission

•    To produce Engineers and researchers with sound knowledge on Fundamentals of traditional, modern and emerging areas of space communication and navigation technology.
•    To achieve professional skills along the innovative design & research abilities including managerial skills, which are essential for sustainable development.
•    To promote student awareness of life-long learning and develop/improve group-working capability on multidisciplinary projects.

OUR ACHIEVEMENT

The Department of Space Communication and Navigation Technology, Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) is going ahead with great strides in respect of education and research. Forward in bringing new dimensions to the field of satellite communication and navigation, this department takes pride in its students and faculties.

Achievements:

  • Being a new and the only post graduate degree offering department in Bangladesh in the field of Space communication and navigation, the SCNT department has been enrolling students from multiple relevant disciplines and conducting the M.Sc in Satellite Communication Engineering programme since 2022. Currently two batches are undergoing the programme.

Research and Graduation:

One of the students, Sree Pradip Kumar Sarkar from the pioneer batch, session: 2021-22 from the dept of SCNT completed his Master of Science in Satellite Communication Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Md Afzal Hossain. His research work titled "Performance Analysis of Satellite Constellations for Continuous Ground Coverage and Improvement of Space Data Transfer Efficiency on Inter-Satellite Optical Communication System," has been published in the International Journal of Optics Continuum (OSA), USA.

Seminar:

Prior to appear before the Thesis Defence board, the above student (Sree Pradip Kumar Sarkar) conducted a seminar on "Performance Analysis of Satellite Constellations for Continuous Ground Coverage and Improvement of Space Data Transfer Efficiency on Inter-Satellite Optical Communication System" presenting his research work in front of the university faculties and officials including the Vice Chancellor.
